→ Oral health in India is a severe public health problem, especially in rural areas. It is one of the most common causes of morbidity and mortality. Limited and costly access to dental care makes it a very prized service in rural India, where the dentist to population ratio can fall to 1:150 000. (Reference: Gambhir et al., 2013; Journal of Natural Science, Biology and Medicine). Heart Valve Bank has been actively providing care through the organization of its own dental camps through the provision of services by a team of international dentists.

→ HVB has also assisted with the supply of dental implants and other dental equipment necessary to provide care to patients. Following a request from the Sri Ramakrishna Mission, Varnasi, HVB supplied the Mission with a new £15,000 outpatient Dental X-Ray machine. This has ensured all patients, from low-income backgrounds, were able to receive appropriate diagnostic tests to best guide next steps of their care. Since its installation, hundreds of patients have been treated to date.
