The Virat Hospice Project

To celebrate 10 years of HVB, on the 6th of May 2013 HVB launched a unique new partnership with the Virat Hospice, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. Across India, there is a disparity in the provision of palliative care services for all those affected by terminal cancer, especially for those who are unable to afford care. Many terminally ill patients were deprived of end-of-life care significantly impacting of their quality of life in the final phase of life. Recognizing this desperate situation, HVB established a formal partnership with the Virat Hospice. With the financial support provided by HVB, the hospice was able to triple its patient capacity whilst ensuring patients were able to receive palliative treatment in a loving and caring facility that looked after every need of a patient and their loved ones free of charge.

Sri Aurobindo Society

In partnership with the Sri Aurobindo Society, HVB has been involved with providing community-based homecare for the terminally ill elderly. By committing £10,000 to this noble cause, a designated team of trained doctors, nurses and volunteers were able to conduct regular home visits ensuring high quality patient-centred care is delivered. This project has seen over 2440 patient served in over 180 villages in India!

Case Based Referrals

HVB has been very privileged to be involved in sponsoring the treatments of individual patients affected by cancer. One such example was the treatment of Raghav, a 3-year-old boy from Mauritius, who was transferred for treatment in India with the support of HVB. Without this intervention, Raghav would not have survived with costly and complex treatment being unavailable in his home country.
